1. a cut, groove, or slot made on the edge or surface of a board or the like, to receive the end or edge of another piece of wood shaped to fit it.
2. a joint so made.
–v.t.
1. to cut or form a rabbet in.
2. to join with a rabbet.
–v.i.
to form a joint or bring pieces together with a rabbet. Also, rebate.
